About the Ottawa Valley Branch

Welcome to the website of the Ottawa Valley Branch of the Royal Heraldry Society of Canada. For over 10 years our branch has been a major resource for those interested in heraldry and related topics in Eastern Ontario. Our enviable position in the National Capital has put us at the centre of the Canadian heraldic world, and our city being the site of the National Archives, which holds in its library the RHSC's heraldic collection. Several times a year the branch hosts formal dinners with informative lectures. The branch also has an ongoing heraldry chat group especially of interest to those new to heraldic studies.

Badge: A gold pall in a field of green within a compass rose. A red maple leaf is mounted in the center of the pall. The significance is as follows: The compass rose is the symbol of the RHSC. The golden pall represents the meeting of the Ottawa and the Rideau rivers. Ottawa is the city where they meet. The red maple leaf symbolizes the fact that Ottawa is the nation's capital. The field of green represents the Ottawa Valley which surrounds the city of Ottawa.
